The Canadian Red Cross Youth Group is hosting Week of Youth, which is one week of workshops for youth 13 – 25 years of age. Week of Youth is an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience with a locally and internationally recognized organization on a variety of topics. Workshops will include Personal Preparedness, World History of Racism in Minutes, People Savers, and more! Participants completing the People Savers course will receive a certificate recognizing their participation in learning safety awareness and first aid skills.
Week of Youth will take place July 8 – 12 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Canadian Red Cross office located at 105 Allard St. The cost is $20 for the week or $5 a day, with lunch included. Participants will receive a certificate of completion for the week.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday – Introduction to the Red Cross & Youth Group, Team Building Workshop, Malaria Presentation
Tuesday – Current Humanitarian Events & Case Studies, World History of Racism in Minutes
Wednesday – People Savers (Level 4), Personal Preparedness Workshop
Thursday – Disaster Management Information & Testimonials, Children of War Presentation
Friday – International Humanitarian Law & Landmines Presentation, Paxium (Role-playing activity exploring conflict & international humanitarian law)
