New Board Members
Sault Ste. Marie, ON – The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome three new Directors to its Board of Directors.
Joining the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning July 1st, 2013 are:
  • Mark Hebert, Savings World
  • Christian Tenaglia,  Pinchin Environmental
  • Kevin Wyer, Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront Hotel and Conference Centre
James Caicco, who assumed the role of President of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce in July of 2012, will continue in his current role until December 31st, 2013. A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Caicco is the Broker of Record and owner of Century 21 Choice Realty Inc. He is also part owner of Centum Mortgage Approval Centre and Property One Management. He has over fifteen years experience in the appraisal and real estate industry, specializing in residential and commercial real estate.
Caicco notes that the Chamber has a long history of service from business leaders in the community and is fortunate to be able to benefit from their business expertise. “The Chamber, being a not-for profit organization, relies heavily on our volunteers to meet our goals. Because our focus is on serving business, our membership can be assured that those individuals offering guidance to the Chamber have the best interests of local business at heart as well as a very genuine understating of business, including both the challenges and opportunities that are present locally.”
He suggests that, “steering business interests is not easy; in fact it’s incredibly challenging, but when we create an environment that fosters business, we create a dynamic community in which to live and raise our families.”
Assuming the role of First Vice President on the Chamber’s Executive Committee is Mark Barsanti, owner of the local Canadian Tire. Barsanti will assume the Chamber President’s position effective January 1st, 2014.     
Additional members of the Chamber of Commerce Executive include: Second Vice-President Beverley Szatanski, manager of the Queen and Brock branch of RBC Royal Bank; Ron Spadoni, associate partner at the local KPMG LLP, who will begin his fifth year as the Chamber’s Treasurer; and Robert Reid, President and CEO of N-SCI Technologies who serves as the Chamber’s Immediate Past President.
The Chamber also wishes to extend thanks to retiring Director Peter Berlingieri of Pascuzzi & Berlingieri Law Firm LLP, who is completing his term as a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The Chamber acknowledges the significant time and expertise he provided to the Chamber as a Director. We look forward to Peter’s continued involvement with the Chamber as he continues to serve on the Chamber’s Membership Committee.

“It’s an exciting time to be involved with the Chamber,” adds Caicco. “2014 will see the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce celebrating 125 years of serving the Sault’s business community.  We are starting to plan some special events  to celebrate the Chamber’s 125 anniversary milestone including hosting the 2014 Ontario Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting & Conference in Sault Ste. Marie.   We expect that these types of activities and the added attention are going to showcase the importance of Chamber membership and support by the business community. It’s also going to drive home the fact that Chamber membership offers some really excellent benefits and services that businesses can use to their advantage.”
