If so, then the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing & Events Champion (Co-ordinator) to join our vibrant team.
 
Formed in 1889 we are the voice of business in Sault Ste. Marie. Our ongoing advocacy role includes addressing local government policies, programs and actions affecting member businesses. The local Chamber facilitates enhancement of the economic climate; identifies education and training opportunities; improves relationships with government, business agencies and labour organizations. We provide many opportunities for business people to network, get connected to business opportunities and invest in their business and community.
 
Reporting to the Executive Director you will serve as the Marketing and Event Co-ordinator to plan, organize and assist with the undertakings to execute and deliver Chamber events designed to increase Chamber revenues. You will be self-motivated and driven by providing membership value, engagement, participation and retention of existing members in addition to attracting new members in a professional manner.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all event planning, registration, logistics and marketing to deliver Chamber events.
  • Design marketing & promotional plan, materials, work plans and budgets for Chamber programs and events as assigned.
  • Secure sponsorship for Chamber events and programs.
  • Assist with implementation of Chamber’s Marketing & Communications Plan for Chamber Events.
  • Assists with the administration & maintenance of Chamber Website and Social Media Tools.
  • Provide administrative support for Chamber events.  Handle all event registrations, assist with event set up and registration on-site, prepare event registration lists, process credit card payments and prepare invoice requisitions.
  • Serve as Staff Liaison to STRIVE Young Professionals Group. (Organize and attend meetings, transcribe minutes from the meetings, prepare agendas and reports for meetings as required, Assist with execution of committee action items).
  • Perform other duties as required including reception duties.
 
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Proven ability to cultivate sound business relationships, strategic alliances and close sales.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Outstanding presentation, writing, editing, proofreading and verbal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically while working both individually and as an active participant in a small, cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and duties with competing deadlines.
  • Be able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Schedule flexibility for attendance at events internally and externally.
Required experience:
  • Successful background in all or some of the following: event management, business development, sales, customer service and marketing.
  • Experience in Advertising or Media Sales is an asset but not necessary.
Competency
  • Basic knowledge in graphic design
  • Use of database management system
  • Microsoft Windows Professional 8.1 including: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
