Meet our Panel...
Jean Paul (JP) Gladu
JP is currently Principal of Mokwateh, and previously served as the President and CEO of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) from September 2012 until April 2020. Anishinaabe from Thunder Bay JP is a member of Sand Pont First Nation located on the eastern shores of Lake Nipigon, Ontario. JP completed a forestry technician diploma in 1993, obtained an undergraduate degree in forestry from Northern Arizona University in 2000, holds an Executive MBA from Queens University and the ICD.D from Rotman School of Management University of Toronto. JP has over 30 years of experience in the natural resource sector. His career path includes work with Indigenous communities and organizations, environmental non-government organizations, industry and governments from across Canada.
Currently, JP serves on the board of Suncor, Institute for Corporate Directors, Broden Mining, First Nations Major Projects Coalition Advisory Centre, Chair of Canadas Forest Trust and the Boreal Leadership Champions as well BHP’s International Forum for Corporate Responsibility committee. He previously served on the Board of Ontario Power Generation, Noront Resources and past Chair of the Mikisew Group of Companies.
David Billedeau
David Billedeau is the Senior Director of Natural Resources, Environment, and Sustainability at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. In addition to this role, David maintains a research fellowship with the Energy Council of Canada and is completing a PhD within the University of Waterloo’s School of Environment, Enterprise, and Development. His professional experience includes serving as a federal policy advisor, conducting sustainability assurance consulting in South Africa, and advancing research on corporate social responsibility.
Anastasia Ufimtseva, PhD
Anastasia Ufimtseva, PhD, is the Business Asia program manager with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. Anastasia previously worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Jack Austin Centre for Asia Pacific Business Studies, Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. She obtained a PhD in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affairs (Wilfrid Laurier University), an MA in Political Science (University of Waterloo), and a BA (honours) in Political Science with International Relations (The University of British Columbia). Her research has appeared in the Academy of Management Perspectives, Academy of Management Proceedings, Energy Policy, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, Global Policy, and other journals and publication outlets.
Mathew Halliday
Mr. Halliday graduated from Dalhousie University in 2007 where he majored in Earth Sciences then spent the next 15 years in exploration and as a resource geologist with Kirkland Lake Gold, First Cobalt and SGS Geostat. Mathew focused on gold and silver resources and project management during his time with SGS, after which he focused on geometallurgy and sample selection predominately for battery metals and commodities like lithium. He has experience with REE mineral deposits and resource estimation and helped create a mineral database for the government of Canada with a colleague Tassos Grammatikopolous. He was part of the team that won the 2016 Integra gold challenge at the PDAC. He is a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Critical Minerals Council. In addition to his current ambition in cobalt exploration, he is also interested in other critical minerals like Bismuth and Antimony amongst others. As a consultant, he has worked with nearly 100 companies internationally big and small from grassroots exploration through to feasibility and in optimization of mining parameters such as geometallurgical modelling of flotation and grindability parameters. His current goal is to open the Cobalt Mining Camp up by developing a hub and spoke system with multiple projects being onboarded to a centralized mill and leach plant.
